Halloween Tutorial “Half Skull”

Hello! The third Halloween make-up is inspired in the “Vampire Queen” mask featured in the book A Complete Guideto Special Effects Makeup. I wanted to make the mask, but didn’t have enough time to do it; I promise to make it soon and share the process. Today I’m going to show you a mini-tutorial with images of how I made this character: “Half Skull”.

Half Skull

Put on the foundation to unify the face’s color and then outline the area, it doesn’t have to be perfect because it is only a starting guide so you already have an idea of where to place the base. In this step I also blocked the right eyebrow, but I will explain that procedure step by step in another post.

Now you have to fill the inside with white color (bodypaint makeup). The parts you leave unfilled are going to be painted in black.

Then paint in black the unfilled areas (with bodypaint makeup) and reinforce the contour line.

Now is the time to make the shadows to add dimension, with a black shadow and a small blending brush or a Q-tip place the shade around the following areas:

  • Contour on the inside.
  • Around the eye and above the eyebrow.
  • Below the cheekbone.
  • Between teeth.
  • On the outside of the outline I used a light concealer and a little red to highlight the backbone area.

Finally you can leave the other half of the face without makeup. I chose to wear a simple winged eyeliner and red lipstick.

And this is the result:

 Products used:

  • Foundation BBCream by Garnier, shade medium/deep.
  • Dermacolor Fixing Powder by Kryolan (P5).
  • Bodypaint makeup by “Pintafan” (black and white).
  • Highlighter “Dream Lumi Touch” by Maybelline, shade 02.
  • Liquid liner by Rimmel.
  • Lipstick: cream makeup.

Thanks for coming, you are welcome to like and share with your friends.

Until the next post!
